Dubai Chamber Helps Dubai Logistics Firm Enter Kenya and Uganda

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has helped Al Sharqi Shipping, a logistics and freight company based in Dubai, set up new operations in Kenya and Uganda.

The Chamber’s office in Kenya played a key role in this expansion. It gave Al Sharqi Shipping important market research, introduced them to local business partners, and guided them through legal and regulatory steps to start operating in both countries.

Salem Al Shamsi, Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, said the goal is to help Dubai businesses connect with high-potential global markets. He explained that this kind of support not only helps local companies grow but also strengthens Dubai’s position as a global trade hub.

Kashif Rafiq, CEO of Al Sharqi Shipping, said the company has been helping businesses with trade and logistics since 1989. With the UAE-Kenya Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Chamber’s support, they plan to grow their presence in East Africa, improve regional trade links, and contribute to Dubai’s wider trade goals.

Al Sharqi Shipping offers services such as freight forwarding, customs clearance, cargo consolidation, and supply chain management. Their new offices in Kenya and Uganda will also focus on building local trucking infrastructure to make trade faster and more reliable across African markets.

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce regularly helps local companies expand into promising markets by sharing business insights, connecting them with key partners, and guiding them through local rules. The Chamber also arranges trade missions to build strong international business networks.
