Dubai Taxi Trips Rise 7% in First Half of 2025

Dubai’s taxi sector recorded a 7% increase in trips during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, said total taxi trips reached 59.5 million between January and June 2025, up from 55.7 million in the same period last year. Passenger numbers also rose from 97 million to 103.5 million over the same period.

Hala Taxi, Dubai’s e-hailing taxi service, increased its share of total trips to 41.3% in the first half of 2025, compared to 40.3% in 2024 — a 2.5% growth in market share. The number of active taxi drivers also rose from around 13,000 to nearly 14,000.

Shakri noted that e-hailing, hourly vehicle rental, and Hala Taxi services all achieved record growth. He said these results reflect Dubai’s economic strength and its appeal as a top destination for tourism and investment.

Service speed also improved. In the first half of 2024, about 70% of Hala Taxi rides had a car arrive in under four minutes. In 2025, 74% of trips saw a taxi arrive in under three and a half minutes, showing better efficiency and faster response times.
