Dubai Municipality Completes Over 25,000 Construction Inspections in First Half of 2025

Dubai, UAE – Dubai Municipality has recorded a major milestone in regulating construction activities, carrying out more than 25,000 field inspections in the first half of 2025. This marks a 36% year-on-year increase, underscoring the city’s expanding development projects and its commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability in the building sector.
The inspections covered more than 18,800 active construction sites with a combined built-up area exceeding 36 million square metres — up 11% from the same period last year. The compliance rate stood at an impressive 96%, reflecting the success of Dubai Municipality’s robust oversight framework and its dedication to sustainable urban planning.
The first six months of 2025 also saw the issuance of 1,669 building completion certificates, representing a 30% rise compared to 2024. These included 1,484 villas, 74 multi-storey developments, and 60 industrial facilities, collectively adding approximately 2 million square metres of residential, commercial, and industrial space to the emirate.
Commitment to Sustainability
Dubai Municipality reported the use of over 1.5 million cubic metres of green concrete in new projects, advancing the city’s environmental goals. In addition, 16.4 million cubic metres of soil were recycled and transported — equivalent to filling about 6,500 Olympic-size swimming pools. The Municipality also approved more than 1,100 requests for free sand to support Emirati citizens building private villas and issued over 4,200 permits for sand transport and supply.
Eng. Maryam Al Muhairi, CEO of the Buildings Regulation and Permits Agency, said:
“Our inspection programme is more than a compliance exercise — it is a strategic tool to elevate construction quality, enhance sustainability, and maintain Dubai’s position as a leader in urban development. We continue to work closely with our partners to create a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible building environment that benefits residents and investors alike.”
Driving the Future of Urban Development
Dubai Municipality’s proactive approach aligns with the emirate’s vision to become the world’s smartest and most sustainable city. By combining stringent regulatory measures with innovative building practices, the Municipality aims to streamline processes, foster investment, and set global benchmarks in construction excellence.
