Ajman Bans Use of Electric Scooters on Roads and Public Streets

Ajman Police have announced that the use of electric scooters of all types is now prohibited on public streets, in a move aimed at ensuring the safety of all road users.
Last month, the authorities issued an advisory urging riders of e-scooters and two-wheelers to adhere to traffic rules, warning against the use of unauthorized electric bicycles and scooters. The advisory included a video showing common violations, such as riding without safety gear, going the wrong way on one-way streets, entering roads from exits, and using pedestrian crossings.
Across the UAE, authorities frequently issue reminders to two-wheeler riders to discourage unsafe practices and promote road safety. A video released by Abu Dhabi Police highlighting reckless e-scooter driving has sparked discussion among residents about the need for stricter regulations. The clip showed three individuals in Kanduras riding e-scooters in areas unsuitable for such vehicles. Police have urged residents to use e-scooters only in designated safe zones.
Some residents have shared their experiences with near-misses. Um Saeed, a long-time Jumeirah resident in Dubai, recalled, “The rider came out of nowhere from between two parked cars. I barely had time to move.”
In Dubai, authorities have launched a special unit to monitor violations by cyclists and e-scooter riders, reflecting a collaborative effort between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police to improve safety on public roads.
