Kabul, Sept 1 – A powerful earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale has struck the rugged eastern region of Afghanistan, killing more than 600 people and leaving over 1,500 injured, according to the Taliban’s interior ministry.
The quake, which shook villages across the mountainous terrain near the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, is one of the deadliest natural disasters to hit the country in recent years. Emergency teams are struggling to reach remote communities where homes have collapsed, trapping families under rubble.
