Abu Dhabi Airports Record Passenger Growth in First Half of 2025

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Passenger traffic at Zayed International Airport (AUH) and other Abu Dhabi airports has soared to new heights in the first six months of 2025, marking a record-breaking 15.8 million travellers between January and June — a 13% increase compared to the same period last year. This achievement also represents the 17th consecutive quarter of double-digit growth, underscoring the emirate’s rising status as a global aviation hub.

The majority of this growth comes from Zayed International Airport itself, which handled 15.5 million passengers across nearly 94,000 flights in just half a year.

Expanding Global Connections

Abu Dhabi’s air network continues to expand, with new destinations launched in 2025 including Shanghai, Seychelles, Damascus, and Madurai, alongside several more routes planned for later this year. These additions strengthen AUH’s position as a strategic connector between East and West.

Cargo and Trade Growth

Cargo operations are also thriving, with over 344,000 tonnes transported in the first half of the year. To support the booming e-commerce trade, Abu Dhabi is developing a 70,000 sqm high-tech logistics facility, reinforcing its role as a major player in global supply chains.

Awards and Infrastructure Upgrades

Zayed International Airport has been named Best Airport at Arrivals Globally for the third consecutive year. Recent milestones include upgrades at Sir Bani Yas Airport, continued terminal enhancements, and the integration of sustainability projects into airport operations.

Looking Ahead

With ongoing expansions, new airline partnerships, and green initiatives, Abu Dhabi Airports is preparing to welcome even more travellers in the coming years — whether for tourism, business, or transit.
