Abu Dhabi to Change Darb Toll Gate Hours and Remove Daily, Monthly Caps from September 1

Abu Dhabi – The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has announced changes to Darb toll gate operating hours and fee limits, effective Monday, September 1, 2025. The adjustments aim to improve traffic flow and ease congestion during peak travel times.

Under the revised schedule, evening chargeable hours from Monday to Saturday will shift from 5:00pm–7:00pm to 3:00pm–7:00pm. Morning chargeable hours will remain unchanged. Toll fees will continue to be waived on Sundays and official public holidays.

In a major policy update, the current daily and monthly toll caps will be removed. At present, private vehicles are charged a maximum of AED 16 per day, or AED 200 per month for the first vehicle, AED 150 for the second, and AED 100 for the third or additional vehicles. From September 1, motorists will be charged AED 4 each time they pass through a toll gate, with no cap on the total amount.

Existing exemptions will remain in place for eligible groups, including People of Determination, low-income families, senior citizens, and retirees.

Darb, launched in 2021, operates eight toll gates on key bridges leading into and out of Abu Dhabi city. ITC said the changes are part of an ongoing strategy to optimise road usage and minimise congestion on major routes during busy hours.
