The Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival 2025 will take place from August 15 to 24 at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Resort, Abu Dhabi Corniche. Now in its 31st edition, the event welcomes over 3,000 players from 82 countries, hosting 27 tournaments with a total prize pool of AED 500,000.

Abu Dhabi is gearing up for one of the world’s largest chess spectacles, transforming the Corniche venue into a hub for mind sports this summer.

What’s New in 2025?

While the Masters Tournament remains the highlight, the 31st edition introduces new formats to attract enthusiasts of all levels. Alongside classical chess, participants can also compete in Chess960 (Fischer Random Chess), checkers, and dominoes, adding a fresh twist to the traditional festival.

Compared to last year, the event has attracted more than 500 additional players, underscoring its growing international appeal and its reputation as a premier sporting event in the UAE.

Who to Watch Out For

Leading the top seeds are Sanan Sjugirov and Arkadij Naiditsch, joined by talented UAE players including Imran Al Hosani and rising star Roza Issa Al Serkal. The tournament will also see a strong showing from a new generation of Emirati talents eager to make their mark on the global stage.
