Dubai launches 14 new investment opportunities for Emiratis at Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls

The Supreme Committee for the Development of Hatta has announced 14 fresh investment opportunities at the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project, following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.
The initiative, introduced through Dubai Municipality, is designed to boost local entrepreneurship, generate jobs, and support the region’s long-term economic and social growth.
Free retail spaces for Hatta citizens
As part of the program, all retail spaces at the project will be allocated exclusively to Emiratis residing in Hatta. Citizens will receive the spaces rent-free for one year, enabling small businesses and productive families to launch and expand within one of Dubai’s most picturesque destinations.
This step aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the Hatta Development Master Plan, and the emirate’s broader economic goals under Dubai Social Agenda 33 and Dubai Economic Agenda D33. Collectively, these strategies aim to position Dubai among the world’s top three cities for tourism while ensuring inclusive growth and environmental sustainability.
Investment opportunities across hospitality and retail
Covering a total area of 750 square metres, the opportunities include:
- 4 restaurants
- 4 retail outlets
- 6 food and beverage kiosks
These venues will cater to diverse experiences – from Emirati and Arabic cuisines to Western dining, local cafés, equipment rentals, and souvenir shops. The initiative is expected to enrich the visitor experience, attract more tourists, and empower Hatta residents to achieve greater economic independence.
A milestone for Hatta entrepreneurs
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted:
“This is the first time commercial and investment opportunities are being introduced in the Hatta Dam area, particularly at the Sustainable Waterfalls. It represents a turning point in strengthening the local economy, opening doors for Emirati entrepreneurs, and creating a nurturing environment for family businesses and startups to grow.”
Dubai Municipality has invited Emiratis residing in Hatta to apply through www.dm.gov.ae/business, with applications reviewed under specific eligibility criteria.
Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls: A unique landmark
The Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project is already a major tourist attraction, featuring cascading water from the upper dam of the Hatta Hydroelectric Plant. The water flows over the world’s largest mosaic mural, a 2,199-square-metre artistic masterpiece created with over 1.2 million marble pieces, depicting the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
The new initiative is expected to transform Hatta into a stronger tourism hub while creating meaningful opportunities for citizens to play a direct role in the region’s growth.
